Dreadnaught

Another Chicago beer highlight involving Three Floyds actually took place at the James Beard Nominated restaurant, Girl and the Goat.

After a long discussion of food, my friends and I agreed to take a chance and check out this extremely popular eatery. We knew the reservations were booked up, but were told the lounge was first come first serve, so we figured it was worth a shot. And it was. The food was excellent, but more importantly they had Alpha King on Tap and yes...I found a bottle of Dreadnaught on the menu.

An imperial IPA, Dreadnaught is considered one of the top IPA's/Top beers in America. Beer advocate currently has it lasted at #35 on their top rated beers.

The beer was fruity with the as advertised mango and grapefruit-ish hop flavors, but smoother than any Imperial IPA I've had (Hopslam maybe the exception). At 9.5%, it was as light and drinkable as water. Amazingly done. It was also $25 for the bottle. But hey, when you have a chance to drink an amazing top-rated beer with friends in one of the top restaurants in the country, it's well worth the money.
